Butler Peak

In December we had a rare opportunity to take the drive to Butler Peak fire lookout (elev. 8537) due to no snow accumulation to close Forest Roads 2N13 and 2N13B. Here is an amazing drone shot of the fire lookout building!

Butler Peak is the highest of the seven fire lookouts in the Southern California mountains and the views are spectacular! The lookout is shuttered in the winter but you can still enjoy the views of Big Bear Lake from the deck. It’s worth a visit in the summer, if you are lucky you’ll get to go inside and talk to volunteers manning the lookout.

We love this shot looking west from Butler Peak toward Lake Arrowhead. It captures how wild and windy it was up there that day. We love exploring the local mountains and taking amazing photos of our home area!
